Alongside Avenida da Praia, Taipa, there is a beautiful wetland area which attracts many herons, forest birds, dragonflies, butterflies and other animals. It is one of the important ecological areas in Macao. Ecological trails and bird-watching houses are set up in the area for nature lovers to watch birds without disturbing their habitats. Apart from the ecological trail, visitors can also visit the ecological pond in the wetlands during opening hours. To make it convenient for the public to learn about its biodiversity, explanation boards with information about wildlife in the wetlands have been installed in the area to provide basic information about birds, insects and aquatic plants, among others. While strolling along the trail to enjoy the beautiful scenery, visitors can also visit the Portuguese-style buildings Taipa Houses, which are acclaimed as one of the top eight sites of Macao.
