Renowned composer and conductor Chung Yiu-Kwong is loved by music fans across the world for his work with profound Oriental philosophical thoughts and rich musical emotions. He will conduct his own composition Flying Apsaras, and Prism Rhapsody, arranged by himself, as well as several classic pieces.
The Silk Road Fantasia Suite is a piece based on a variety of ethnic and folk musical elements. It features a skillful integration of western compositional techniques with Chinese ethnic and folk music, using ‘freehand’ techniques to present Xiyu, or Western Territories (roughly today’s Xinjiang) charms with vivid melodies that ooze an exotic feel with lively rhythms.
Macao-born saxophonist Timothy Sun, one of the most active young saxophone players in Hong Kong and Macao, will perform the suite, and Wang Juan, percussionist from the Macao Chinese Orchestra, will interpret Prism Rhapsody.
