The Macao Chinese Orchestra and the singing group Water Singers jointly create a parent-child musical theater, Magical Wand in a Musical Journey to the West. Integrating elements of Chinese music and drama, this programme combines performance on the family of plucked-string instruments, one of the four instrumental families of the Chinese orchestra, with a cappella singing. It brings brand-new musical and theatrical experience to both adults and children in the form of an interactive theatre.
The characters in the theatre, the master Tang Sanzang, aka Tang Seng, a Buddhist monk in Monkey King, and his three disciples, together with fans make a journey along the Silk Road, during which the members of the Chinese orchestra’s plucked-string family present musical pieces in different styles in combination with interactive games, vivid plots, and multi-sensory impacts. It will certainly offer parent-child audiences the enjoyment of an interesting and educative musical journey!
