Mengla Huang,Violinist

Mengla Huang, born in Shanghai, one of the most active violinists on the world stage today. He won the 1st place of 49th Paganini International Violin Competition with the Renato De Barbieri Memorial Award for the best interpretation of Paganini's Caprices at the age of 22,thus getting named as “Oriental Paganini”. His performances shared us in profound thoughts, exquisite emotions under extraordinary skills, which always mesmerized the whole classical music world.

Mengla Huang has always been devoted to the promotion of classical music with his very own blend of Eastern and Western musical philosophy. He has toured with worldwide top orchestras such as Sinfonieorchester Basel, NHK Symphony Orchestra, Dresden Staatskapelle, Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, achieving astounding success throughout Asia, Europe and the United States.

As a solo violinist, Mengla Huang has made his United States debut on concert stages such as Alice Tully Hall and Lincoln Center in New York and became the first Chinese violinist to give a recital at Prague Spring International Music Festival. He has been invited to perform with Bamberger Symphoniker, Stuttgart Radio Symphony, Hamburg Symphony, NDR Radiophilharmonie, Danish National Symphony, Luxembourg Philharmonic, Nice Philharmonic, Belgrade Philharmonic, Japan Philharmonic, Shanghai Symphony, Hong Kong Philharmonic,etc.Conductors with whom he has collaborated included NeemeJarvi, Jonathan Nott, Long Yu, Henrik Schaefer, Muhai Tang, Edo de Waart, Andrew Manze, Jia Lü, Simone Young, Yi Zhang, etc.

Nowadays, he has completed over one hundred global touring performances with his own projects “Paganini 24 Caprices”recital and “In the name of Concerto” string quartet concerts. “His talent is rapidly becoming known to the world", said journal The Gramophone.

As the first Chinese contract musician with Universal Music under DG label, he exclusively released albums with highlighting personal style including “Violin Show Pieces”, “Violinissimo”, “Paganini 24 Caprices”, “Milonga del Angel”, etc.

Mengla Huang has worked as a professor in Shanghai Conservatory of Music, while serving as a guest professor of Royal Academy of Music and Ishikawa Music Academy for many years. He has also taken on the duty as a member of jury in many international violin competitions such as Sendai International Violin Competition, helping young generations grow and develop with his original aspiration and rich experience.

JonieQiuning Huang,Pianist

Ms. JonieQiuning Huang received her double bachelor degrees in piano and electric keyboard from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2009, and furthered her master degree at the same institution with audition exemption in the same year. In 2014, she complete another master’s degree in collaborative piano from the New England Conservatory under Vivian Wielerstein and Cameron Stowe.

As a solo pianist and a chamber musician, Ms. Huang appeared worldwide including Vienna, Salzburg, Boston, Los Angels, Beijing, Shanghai, among many other major cities. She has collaborated with some great orchestras and musicians such as: Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, Nobuco Imai (world famous violist), Angelo Xiang Yu (Lincoln center violinist), MarttiRoussi (world famous cellist) and others.

Ms. Huang is in frequent demand as a collaborative artist working with the studio members of Donald Weilerstein, Kim Kashkashian, Laurence Lesser, and other renowned masters.  Her quartet and chamber collaborations have been the featured concerts at New England Conservatory's prestigious Jordan Hall. She has frequently been invited to give performances in music festivals such as Mozarteum Festival (Austria), Foulger Festival (USA), Morningside Bridge, Walnut Hill Festival (USA), Banff Festival ( Canada) , and others.

Since 2014, Ms. Huang has been a faculty member at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and devotes herself to chamber music teaching and and performances. She was awarded “Chen Guang Scholar” in 2017 and plans to research chamber music performance practices in the West and East. She is actively involved with noticeable results in the “Shanghai High Education Junior Faculty Funding Project” sponsored by the Shanghai Education Committee and the “Yin Cai Bei Chu” project by the Shanghai Conservatory of Music that promote continuing education and research by distinguished faculty.
